98 Broad
Newark, NJ | 2011
Info
Located in Newark’s North Ward, 98 Broad was once destroyed by two devastating fires leaving it vacant since 1989. After a complete restoration and adaptive re-use, the building is now home to 16 apartments with 10 set aside for victims of domestic violence and single mothers. The re-use included full facade restoration, window replacement, and redesign of the interior including the addition of new stair and elevator cores. With a sensitivity towards the buildings new use, the re-design includes many thoughtful details like the decorative wood and wrought iron entry door, inviting lobby, and exposed brick corridors. Inglese Architecture and Engineering provided all civil, architectural, structural, and MEP design.
