The Wright-Clark Mansion
Newark, NJ | 2015
Historic Restoration and Adaptive of one of Newark’s Historic 20th Century Mansions.
Built in 1920, the Wright-Clark Mansion was a stunning example of Tudor-Revival architecture in Newark. Located in Newark’s Forest Hill Historic District, the mansion was abandoned in the 1980’s and left to deteriorate. Years of neglect and vandalism caused the windows and roof to fail eventually destroying or severely damaging most of the ornate plaster and wood detailing. The restoration and adaptive reuse included fully restoring all of the historic woodwork, plaster, original counter balanced wood windows, and the elaborate masonry exterior. The mansion was repurposed as seven apartments and has been hailed as a miracle restoration for the city. Inglese Architecture and Engineering provided all architectural, structural, and MEP services for the restoration.
